The Farmers Hotel was built by John Kottinger in 1864, complete with a general store in front. In 1863, rooms cost $5 per week, and meals were 25¢ each. The Farmer’s Hotel burned to the ground in 1898, but was immediately rebuilt, and then called the Riverside Hotel, because of its placement alongside the arroyo.
In the 1940’s, the original Pleasanton Hotel, which was located elsewhere on Main Street, burned down. This hotel took its name, and is still called that today. Now, the Pleasanton hotel is a restaurant with business offices on the upper level.
